Geek Out: Metro Survive (Manga)

Metro Survive is a manga about a group of people who must survive after an earthquake traps them all underground. Centred around Mishima, a maintenance man for a shoddy newly constructed building, going from being a bit of a wuss to a capable leader.

The story is well constructed with a nice twist halfway through. This was my first time reading a survival manga so I have no idea if it follows any overdone tropes, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it from start to finish. The ending is good as well but saying more than that will spoil it.

The characters are amazing. Many of them developed an incredible amount by the end of the 16 chapter manga. The development never seems rushed and the author seems to have thought deeply about how different people may change during a time of distress.

The art is great in my opinion. It is easy to read and doesn’t seem too crowded or minimalistic.

Overall Metro Survive is a great manga and thanks to it I will definitely consider checking out more survival manga in the future.

Note: This manga is fairly clean but there is some violence as well as reference to mature content (though nothing is actually shown).
